Pictures at an Exhibition:
Co-production of Ciróka Puppet Theatre and the Cultural and Conference Center of Kecskemét.
Mussorgsky’s suite for piano and Ravel’s orchestrated version revives in a most unusual form: with the help of puppets. The starting point of the play in this case is not art, but real life itself. The exhibited pictures tell stories about different stages of life beginning with birth, childhood, youth leading to old age. Everyday heroes, average relationships and lives. Friendships that fall prey to love, love that ends before it could flourish. Death that we cannot understand or accept. During the play we can follow a life full of events and emotions as if we were looking at a photo album. This series of motion pictures show one major thread of life and several others intertwined with it. The telling of these stories is a therapy in itself: a guideline that shows us how to realize what happiness is, to understand and accept the tragedies in life and to help moving on.
