The goldfish – tale of the fisherman and his greedy wife
In our interpretation the well-known tale of the Brothers Grimm takes place in a happy and loud Italian fishing village where even though people spend their days with hard work they live in happiness and love. But one day everything changes: a fisherman catches something peculiar: a fish that speaks and who turns out to be the princess of the sea. She makes a promise to the man that if he lets her go back to the sea she would make all his wishes come true. Even though the fisherman doesn’t really believe his luck his wife is ready to seize the opportunity. Her first wish is a nice, small house only, but as time goes by she wants more and more: nobility, a king’s power and finally the power over the whole word.
This performance is the next one in a line of performances that aim to discuss important matters, in this case we try to show how too deep desire for power can change our whole personalities.
